Garage du Pont in Potsdam: for good food and great cars
During our trip to Potsdam, my friend and I decided to make a pit-stop..at Garage du Pont. After serving many decades as a gas station and repair stop, the Garage now functions as a bar, cafe, restaurant and small museum. The terrace is small, but it should serve you just fine on weekdays and early mornings in the weekend.
My friend decided to go with a tasty, rich vegetables soup, while I opted for the currywurst with fries. Simple? Yes. But this was arguably the best currywurst I have had! A nice, firm texture, certainly not too fat and a taste that was not contaminated by an exorbitant amount of salt, which is usually the case. I think the curry sauce was homemade, which is why it tasted so fresh and spicy.
Now, don’t get me wrong, for I am not a potatoes snob, but a lot of restaurants are quite capable of screwing the french fries up. Garage du Pont serves them just the way we like them: thick, crispy on the outside and soft yet solid on the inside.
Really worth the visit. And make sure to have a look inside!
